Perhaps more important than choosing between
a Sea Ray express cruiser, Carver aft cabin, Bayliner cockpit cruiser, Hatteras
sports fisherman, Hunter, Beneteau, Caliber, Catalina, Halberg-Rassy or
Silverton motor yacht is the selection of the right boating facility for
your family. Most marinas are merely places to keep your boat, where
any interaction between boaters is done on a private basis. In contrast,
yacht clubs, like our own Chesapeake Yacht Club, provide a setting designed
to make new members feel right at home and make new friends quickly. Organized
club cruises and social events are the perfect vehicle for this, and help
new members quickly become acquainted with the beautiful Chesapeake Bay and
each other.
The membership of the club is comprised of a vast pool of professional and
personal talent that each member can draw from. If you want a recommendation
for bottom paint, for new propellers, or boat yards to haul your boat for
winter storage, there are members available that are happy to share their
thoughts with you. If you need help deciding between Mercruiser, or
Cummins, Yanmar, or Volvo diesel power for a re-power or for your next boat,
there are likely people in the club who already has each of these, and who
can advise you.
In short, a yacht club is much more than a marina. It is a way of life
where people form lasting friendships and watch each others' children grow
up. It is both an extended family and a microcosm of the larger world. Those
of us who have been with the club a number of years can't imagine being without
it.
Come visit us and let us show it to you.
